Welcome to Cadence Dressage with Carrie Ryan, at Arbor Equestrian Center! A graduate of Pacific Horse Center in Elk Grove, California, Carrie Ryan has over 20 years of experience teaching & training horses in hunter and dressage and has studied with top level instructors/clinicians such as: ¯ Lynda Weese— FEI Trainer based in Indiana. ¯ George Michael, FEI Trainer now based in Illinois. ¯ Shannon Peters (wife and equestrian partner with Steffen Peters) based in San Diego, CA. ¯ Nancy Smith – FEI Trainer based out of Lake Erie College/summers, Florida/winters. Now pursuing qualification for the 2008 Olympics. ¯ Natalie Hobday, European FEI Trainer. ¯ Kahlman De Jurnak, former head of the German Verband ¯ LuAnne Reaume—Michigan dressage instructor Carrie’s instruction and training methods emphasize a very quiet, clear, classical approach with focus on the rider’s position and how it influences the horse, yet still having a good time, enjoying each lesson. Lessons involve teaching correct basics in rider position and a clear understanding of rider aids to the horse, working on and off the lung line with many exercises to improve balance, feel and strength. Carrie’s approach to training the horse is always a quiet, gentle, classical approach with quick, consistent corrections, but never overly forceful, treating each horse as an individual. All horses are given solid basics, from teaching good ground manners, to correct lunging, to riding and developing strength & fitness, with emphasis on a pleasant, willing attitude with forward, free flowing gaits in to a soft, forward feel bringing the most natural brilliance and movement each horse is capable of so they enjoy their work. Horses are never overly worked, allowing for days to relax in their pasture and just be a horse! |
